Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 in an Olympic contest. Bela Karalyi came across Comaneci when she was six. Comaneci would go on to become Romania's gymnastics coach. In 1969, she took part at the Romanian Junior Championships and finished 13th. In 1970, she won the title. In her first international competition in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior competition for communist-bloc nations she was awarded three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she was overall junior champion. When she competed for the first time as a senior in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning 4 gold medals as well as one silver. The year was 1976 when she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and was the first female ever to remove the parallel bars with backwards double salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career in the world of entertainment began in her teens when she began doing figure skating alongside her younger sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol began her career in the entertainment business in her teens. She began her career by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The shows were the ice skating of which was accompanied by theatrical music.
